InterLibrary Loans (ILLiad)

If the library does not own the material that you need and you are a registered card holder, we can try to borrow it for you from another library. Libraries have developed a reciprocal system that allows us to borrow and lend books, audio books, and periodical articles. You may have up to 5 active interlibrary loans at one time.

Once you have made your request, either in person, by phone at 765.454.4710, or online through our ILLiad Interlibrary Loan System, it will take 2 - 6 weeks to acquire the material. The length of time depends on the availability of the material at the lending library. On a rare occasion, the lending library charges for the loan, and the charge is passed on to you. If you will be charged by the lending library, you will be notified before we finalize the request. If we are unable to get the item from an Indiana Library, you will have the option to get the item from an out of state library at an additional charge of two dollars.

The material can be picked up and returned at any KHCPL location.

Please note that most libraries do not interlibrary loan materials that have been published in the last 12 months.

The lending period is determined by the lending library, but is generally not less than 2 weeks. Most interlibrary loan items can be renewed by logging into your ILLiad account or by calling 765.454.4711 and making a renewal request one week before the material is due.
