Head of Information Technology


The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library seeks an experienced administrator who is responsible for providing broad vision and leadership in all aspects of managing the library’s information technology services. This includes collaborating library-wide to identify and apply appropriate technology uses, overseeing the design and implementation of computer systems, managing telecommunications and Internet connectivity, and coordinating the development of Internet services and web sites.


This is an exempt, 40-hour per week position. The salary begins at $46,300 plus excellent benefits.


Minimum requirements are a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, two years of successful and relevant work experience, knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Server Operating Systems, and understanding of network design and web design technologies. Supervisory experience preferred.

Assistant Director

The job: Duties include working closely with the director on communication and implementation; supervising department heads to maximize their strengths and build a unified team; keeping the Main Library running smoothly; and coordinating special projects. You will also serve as a liaison between the library and the community on an occasional basis. An early project will be working with us as we revisit our mission and develop our next strategic plan. This is an exempt, 40-hour per week position. The salary begins at $57,600 plus excellent benefits. It requires a Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school and five or more years of supervisory experience with a history of meaningful results. Candidates must possess or be able to acquire a State of Indiana Librarian Certificate 3 or higher.

Page and Clerical Positions: 

Applications for library page and clerical positions are accepted at all times, even when there are no openings, and are kept active for six months. An application may be filled out at any library location, or Apply Online.


Library Page: Part-time. Starting wage is $7.39 / hour. Days and hours of work vary. In most page positions, the primary responsibility is shelving books. Other duties might include shelf reading, locating materials, affixing labels on new materials, covering paperbacks, filing, and occasionally assisting patrons.


Library Clerk: Part-time. Starting wage is $9.59 / hour. Days and hours of work vary. Clerks perform tasks in many library departments.  Duties range from processing new library materials, library card registration, collecting library fines and assisting patrons with checking out.

 KHCPL has a vital interest in maintaining safe, legal and efficient working conditions for its employees and patrons.
