KHCPL is the place to be for a funtastic time. The library hosts children’s programs throughout the year at all library locations. During the school year, programs in the Children’s Department at KHCPL Main include after-school programs, Saturday movie matinees, family fun nights, and other special events. Children’s programs feature books, stories, games, crafts, and other fun reading-related activities. All of the programs are open to the public and are free of charge. Registration may be required. For more information on children’s programs at all the KHCPL locations, please check the library’s event calendar, monthly program calendar, or KHCPL Newsletter.

Summer Reading Club is a great way to earn prizes while reading or listening to books at all KHCPL locations. Special story time sessions, professional performances, and a final celebration are events planned around the Summer Reading Club theme each year to enhance your summer activities.

Story Times are free and specifically geared toward the age of your toddler/preschool child. Each session is filled with wonderful stories, songs, fun, and surprises designed to develop early reading skills. Registration is required for most story times held during the school year at our various library locations; view the Story Time Calendar or call your favorite KHCPL location for details and to register.

Holiday Specials

Two of our special children’s programs are PJ Story Time and Spring Fling. Offered in December, PJ Story Time includes stories, crafts, and refreshments for all ages. Each year our annual Spring Fling program celebrates a new theme to delight children and their caregivers with stories, crafts, and refreshments. Check with your favorite KHCPL location for details and registration.
